Sixth Sense Salon, The Best Hair Salon in Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham
While most salons across the UK opened the first weekend in January, Sixth Sense Directors Dean & Dean decided to take their whole team away to feed their minds with knowledge and their souls with quality time spent with each other; after all, a team that plays together stays together.
First stop was the Wella Studio in Manchester where we invited Hall of Fame and three-time winner of the British Hairdressing Colour Technician of the Year Robert Eaton of Russell Eaton Salons.
The day started with Robert explaining some of the unique techniques used to create the looks in some of his award-winning collections; he introduced the team to a host of new tools and textures that could be used, think bubble wrap and fine art paint brushes. As you can imagine, the team were creating Hobby Craft shopping lists throughout the whole presentation.
Following the presentation, Robert then went onto do a live demonstration using the new and beautiful Wella Opal-Essence Colours which will be exclusively available to 6S customers in the coming weeks. As you can see below, the colours were STUNNING and the team are really excited to start using them on our clients.
After a brief lunch break, we then split the team into three groups where they could use the knowledge they picked up in the morning to create beautiful hair for our three glamorous models Natalie, Mandy and Elle. Check out their work below…
When the day was finally done, the team posed for one last photo with the legend that is Robert Eaton, who also got caught up in a Dean Sandwich.
The coach collected the whole team to transport them deep into the countryside where The Dean’s hired out a Grand Hall based in Ashbourne. The setting couldn’t have been more perfect, a 15 bedded mansion with games room, it’s own bar and hot tub located in the heart of the Peak District; and conveniently close to a number of pubs where the team were spent most of the evening fine dining at The Green Man Pub before heading back to the hall for an early night in preparation for next day.
After a great night sleep, the whole team woke up refreshed and ready for the days antics; nothing to heavy was planned as The Deans really wanted to focus on the team working together, sharing their goals for 2019 and understanding more about each other.
The day kicked off with the Dean’s explaining about their 12 months aspirations for the Sixth Sense Salon, things they were changing and how they wanted to ensure that everyone was fully supported in their roles. Following this, they gave the floor to the team who had all created mood boards outlining their goals for the year. Check out some of their mood boards below.
Finally, it was time to celebrate what a FANTASTIC 2018 Sixth Sense Salon had by throwing a MASSIVE party where The Dean’s cooked the whole team a three-course meal. This was closely followed by themed house party where the whole team dressed as either their favourite Britney Spears or Christina Aguilera, as you can see from the video below, everyone had a great time and put in a lot of effort into their outfits…
We think it’s safe to say everyone had a fantastic time and it’s put the whole team in good stead to start 2019….
Dean & Dean’s motto is “Love your team and they will love your clients” which is why every year to celebrate the salons birthday they treat the team to an all expenses paid weekend away.
This year they decided to take them up North to surprisingly sunny Blackpool where the team ate great food, drank shots / partied hard, held each other’s hands as they screamed their way through roller coaster rides and laughed the night away watching the Funny Girls Cabaret Show.
More importantly, the weekend was about everyone coming together as a big family and enjoying each others company outside with the confines of the salon.
The Dean’s Commented “We all look forward to this weekend away every year, it’s a massive thank from us to show that every single team member is appreciated.”
If we could take all our clients with us we would, but we’ve done the next best thing, we’ve bought the whole weekend to our clients with this awesome video above and the images below highlighting the whole weekends’ antics…
Sixth Sense, the Number one hair colour salon in Sutton Coldfield
At Sixth Sense Salon, we are at the forefront of the UK colour technology and we insist on using the very best products on the market to ensure that our clients continue to receive the outstanding results that they are used to…
With this in mind, we are extremely excited to announce that we are one of the FIRST salons in the UK to start using the NEW Wella Professionals KP +me Colour which is totally breaking the boundaries in terms of what we can now achieve.
Wella Professionals KP +me takes into consideration the ingredient-conscious client removing harmful chemicals such as pPD’s / pTD’s found in most other colour brands. It also boasts pure, balanced colour with natural depth/shine and dramatically reduces damage to your hair compared to the other alternatives.
Although the allergens have been removed, there are still molecules within the colour which clients could react to; therefore we needed to implement the following skin testing procedure to ensure that we are in line with Wella Professional’s safety guidelines:
ALL COLOUR CLIENTS WILL NEED TO BE RE-SKINTESTED 3 DAYS BEFORE SERVICE
Once you have been tested against the new KP+me colour, you will be able to reap the benefits of this awesome new product:
As hairdressers, we are so excited to be able to work with such an innovative product and we can’t wait to introduce our clients to the future of hair colouring…
Please contact the salon to discuss updating your skin testing record on 0121 448 0760, alternatively one of our front of house team will be in contact in the very near future.
Festival hair used to pretty much equal a Fedora hat but thanks to evolutions in dry shampoos, festival hair has got a whole lot more glam. Here our are top four festival ready styles for summer:
Summer festival styles from your experts at Sixth Sense Salon (your number one salon in Sutton Coldfield)
Ponytails are the easiest style to try at home but they often get a bad wrap for being not the most stylish. Thankfully, this season, the fashion world gives all us busy women a gift by announcing that the ponytail is back! Yep, grab your hair elastics because the style that gives us all an extra unwashed hair day is going to be big. The only catch being, that it’s a jazzed up, textured ponytail. Thankfully, getting texture is easy to achieve by ensuring your hair has a wave, a curl, a crimp, a plait or even a feather! Yes, anything goes really, as long as it adds details and texture to your ponytail – get your Glastonbury game on.
Big Fat Plaits
Big fat, schoolgirl, plaits are back with a bang! This time it’s all about very loose chunky, ponytail plaits, very similar to what you would have worn as a schoolgirl. If your hair is long enough to achieve this look then you can maximize it by first putting your hair into a ponytail and then backcombing from the tip to root. This backcombing will thicken the hair and have the plait, itself, appear more chunky.
Performance Ready Buns
The ballerina bun is big for summer. We are talking really sleek hair, secured at the back of head, in a chic knotted bun. Last season was all about the very high messy bun but this season it’s all about the smoothness and the height of bun is irrelevant, you can have it nestling on the nape of your neck. To get this look throw away your big bun donut and work with your own hair. You can do this by securing hair into a ponytail, then parting it and working sections in on itself.
The centre parting is back and we aren’t talking soft but sleeked down and striking. This the anti-bouffant statement because it’s actually all about sleeking down hair right from the root and showing off a ruler straight parting. Hair can either be worn up or down and, if down, the ends of the hair can even be tousled and full of volume, as long as the root remains sleek. To get this root use a tail comb to achieve a straight centre parting and work with straighteners to sleek down, fixing with a wet look gel or spray. The best bit about this style is the fact that it excels with greasy hair – bonus!
If you have festival tickets this summer, enjoy and go forth with on-trend hair thanks to our experts at Sixth Sense Salon (your number one hairstylists in Sutton Coldfield).
On 3rd & 4th January this year, the Sixth Sense Salon were whisked away to London where they were invited by Wella Professionals to use their state of the art Wella World Studio to hold the 2018 AWESOME Team Awards.
As part of the trip down South, we also treated the team to inspirational customer service training by internationally acclaimed trainer and close salon friend Julie Eldrett; during the training the team were reminded of the core values of the Sixth Sense Salon mission statement “To Make Everybody Feel Like Somebody” along with advanced communication techniques to ensure that our clients feel totally at ease with our team.
Next up was Sheila Jackson – Events & Education Director for Wella and Regional Trainer Rob Howes who excitedly talked about some of Wella’s big plans for 2018 and how the 6S Team were to be involved.
After a super motivational presentation by Salon Directors Dean & Dean, we then went on to announce the 2018 AWESOME Team award winners:
Retail Queen, Rebook Rita & Educator of the Year
Most Improved Stylist
Front of House & Newcomer of the Year
Future Superstar of the Year
Hairdresser & Employee of the Year
Lauren, Leah, Natalie & Charlie
After the awards ceremony, the team were then introduced to Karbon Kyd – Jayson Gray, who has worked all over the world as the international creative director with Toni & Guy and who has recently joined the Wella Education team as a Global Creative Artist.
Jayson inspired the team by creating 3 beautifully coloured looks on stage using the new Colour Fresh Create range which the team are now using the salon.
Finally, after all of that action the team were ready to go home, but not back to Sutton Coldfield; instead, Directors Dean & Dean had booked a luxury apartment overseeing Buckingham palace where they had a PJ party, played games and laughed until their stomachs hurt.
Such an amazing weekend for a very we deserving team; massive thank you to Wella for having / putting up with us, to Julie Eldrett for as always inspiring our team to deliver excellent customer service, the Sheila & Rob for everything you do for us and last but not least Mr Jayson Gray for his stunning training session.
Now, bring on 2018 for the best hair salon in Sutton Coldfield!!!
No Fuss Hairstyles at Sixth Sense Hair Salon in Sutton Coldfield
If your workout tends to happen during the early hours (bravo!), you might be searching for a hairstyle that serves you all day with no fuss. For all you active girls, Sixth Sense Hairdressers in Sutton Coldfield have done the hard work for you with a full round-up of tried and tested gym hairstyles . If you are looking to begin your day right after your workout, it’s important that you opt for updos that ensure no hair irritation during your dead-lift, but still look chic enough for those well-deserved post workout brunches. Read on for inspiration.
Braids for brunch
We love a front plait because it ensures hair is tightly swept away from the face by performing like a headband, while the side ponytail keeps the back of the neck cool. If your workout is uber demanding, you can simply clip the bulk of the ponytail up in a bun, and release before brunch. Braids are a great weapon for keeping your hair positioned away from your face but also impressing the girl on the mat beside you.
Pile it like a pineapple
If you are blessed with thick long hair, why not work with it by piling your locks high on the top of your head? Not only will this style help to keep you cool, but it will also ensure that hair doesn’t become a nuisance during your workout. This means that it won’t need to be washed post-workout and, best of all, it’s glamourous enough for dining!
Guilty of thinking that the ponytail lacks enough substance for après gym? Think again. The high ponytail is totally on-trend for lunching and brunching – while still being practical for the gym. The key is to forget about chic and sleek and to simply grab and go. If your hair is heavier than the average tresses, secure with two (or even three) hair bands for the ultimate hold.
Messy chignons, or dishevelled buns, are an easy way to style back hair for a workout. They are easy to do and are guaranteed to stay in place during low to medium intensity workouts. To take them to lunch, why not add bling with some sparkly hairclips or stay bang on trend with a bandana?
The ballerina bun is big news, and it’s the perfect style to take you from the gym to lunch. Not only can this style be worn all day, it also has the super power of keeping your locks in optimal condition so that after your workout, you can simply unravel and go.
Half up / half down
If your hair is lacking in length, you can opt for a half up/half down style but keep the bulk of it away from your face and neck by securing in a relaxed braid. Simply, start from the front, braid back and secure with a hair band. If you want something that stands up to higher intensity, tighten the braid or work to create two braids – one on either side.
If you are an gym lover, why not pop by to Sixth Sense Salon (your number one salon in Sutton Coldfield) to have a chat about your perfect style to see you through planks, lunges and brunches. Alternatively, have a talk to us about our Rapture hair extensions, which allow you to have short hair and add length whenever you want!
