5 Hair Trends For 2018

New year, new you – heard it all before, right? Don’t worry, we’re big believers that you can change your hair anytime you want but there is something magical about entering a new year with a bit of va-va-voom which is why Sixth Sense Salon (your number one hairdressers in Sutton Coldfield) have put together this list of 5 hair trends for 2018. Whether you opt to jump on them next week, next month – or even sometime around July, you can be sure of stand-out tresses that truly make a statement.

While we make great leaps in technology, 2018 will actually be a year of nostalgia when it comes to hair and beauty. If you missed the scrunchie the first time around, know that while it might seem like a cutting-edge fashion introduction – it’s actually a throw-back from the 80s. In fact, many of these trends stem from the same era – one that many hoped was forgotten. Keep each these polarising Sixth Sense hair trend predictions on your radar for 2018.

Hair Trend 1 – Nirvana Blonde

Kurt Cobain lives on in our hearts and our hair thanks to this new shade of blonde which has been christened ‘Nirvana Blonde’. Leading the way is Selena Gomez who was given a soft platinum halo by hairstylists Nikki Lee and Riawna Capri who christened it after the legendary Kurt Cobain. With #nirvanablonde the effect is slightly lived in (even from the moment you leave Sixth Sense Salon) which makes maintenance a little easier.

Hair Trend 2 – Funk It Up With A Fringe

If you’ve been having that internal monologue for over a month (you know the one, ‘should I get a fringe?’) make 2018 the year you put it to rest. The only answer to this is yes- especially when this year gives us messy, chopping fringes which add texture to already long natural hair. For inspiration, lust over Victoria’s Secret Angel Taylor Hill who flies the flag for fringe fans everywhere.

Hair Trend 3 – Scrunch It Up

There were rumours that the scrunchie was back in 2017 but it never really took off beyond the Mansur Gavriel runway. However, right at the end of 2017 celebrity hairstylist Jen Atkin released her own line of fuzzy scrunchies so it’s safe to say this ‘marmite’ of the hair world is back for good. Don’t worry though, the 2018 version is upping the luxe factor with silks and velvets.

Hair Trend 4 – High Ponytail

Continuing to flirt with the ‘80s, the high ponytail is back. We’re talking about one parked high on your head (much like your adored yesteryear Barbie dolls) and is already adored by Bella Hadid and Rihanna. Forget about your go-to gym style, this high pony is high in the glamour stakes – and can be given some added action with some Rapture hair extensions for added volume. With Rapture hair extensions from Sixth Sense Salon, your ponytail can have the swish you always wanted.

Hair Trend 5 – Rose Quartz

If you think the Unicorn Hair  and Rainbow Hair is over, you need to think again. This trend has inspired an all over colour known as #Rosequartz which has been spotted on Alexandra Wang’s catwalks. This dye job gives models a fairy-tale look, a statement about tenderness and femininity which makes a breath-taking look for 2018.
