London Fashion Week might be predominately selling itself by what is on the catwalks, but those in the inner circle know that if they want to get a snippet of the cutting-edge fashion, hair and beauty trends – they have to pop outside. Street style is totally where it’s at – with bloggers, editors and journalists stepping out in the outfits they are backing for the win of the season. However, it’s not just the outfits that are kicking up a storm but also the hair ‘dos. Trust us when we say that the hair we see on the streets of London today is set to to shape our whole winter as fashionistas and instagramers get suitably inspired.
So, while fashion designers show us what their collections look like on models, in a catwalk environment – fashionistas are showing us what trends you can invest in now! Better still, all ‘dos are on real people, who are just going about their day doing their thing.
Oui, Oui, Oui
London has become little Paris, with French fashion taking over the street. This includes a special ode to the beret, a French girl staple. And while hats are clearly back, side hairstyles have become big news. We’re talking about side ponytails (not to be confused with the ‘80s style of our youth), side buns and even loose hair with a little ear tuck.
There was a time when beach hair was reserved exclusively to the summer season, but Londoners are taking waves to the street this autumn. Think of laid-back beach hair with a bit more of a polish vibe. To keep the look fizz free, we suggest a squirt of a good old salt spray.
On the off-chance that you don’t believe us (and we’ll try not to take offence) know that Vogue have already caught on to the Platinum Blonde trend currently infiltrating the streets of London. It seems that after a few seasons of candy colouring, the bottle-blonde movement is here. Some are saying it’s befitting of the catwalk offerings, which saw some crazy colourings that require a bright and light simply hair colour. We’re not quite sure where inspiration came from but you can’t really dispute the cool factor of an all-over platinum job.
Bob is Back
The bob is back – but we aren’t really sure if it ever went away. The hair-do of choice for just about every off-duty model, the bob is easy to style – either sleek and straight or with a nod to the aforementioned waves. Celebrities have their own interpretations with defined centre partings or extreme side partings.
Believe it or not, the ear tuck is a thing. Amazing how a simple straight hair ‘do can be totally transformed into something special with a simple middle parting and a little ear tuck. Seen on medium length and long hair lengths alike, this style can be blinged up with some glitzy hair accessories or oversized earrings.
