BAFTAs 2015 – hair and fashion

Stars of the big screen took to the red carpet at the Royal Opera House in London for the 2015 BAFTA awards.

Actor Eddie Redmayne and actress Julianne Moore were the biggest winners of the evening.  Eddie Redmayne scooped the best actor award for his portrayal of Stephen Hawking in The Theory of Everything, while Julianne Moore won best actress for Still Alice.

While all eyes were on what the stars were wearing, the team at Sixth Sense were checking out the hairstyles too!  We bring you the best and the worst of the BAFTAS…

Plunging necklines at the BAFTAs!

The jury is out when it comes to Hayley Atwell‘s short, tightfitting blue dress but we really like her hair colour and on-trend messy waves!

No such doubts when it comes to Julianne Moore‘s sense of style.  She wowed on the red carpet in a Tom Ford red dress with plunging neckline.  Her hair was fashioned into beautiful retro curls to finish off the look perfectly.

Also opting for a plunging neckline was Reece Witherspoon who wore a Stella McCartney plum coloured body skimming dress.  Reece’s hair was styled into an on-trend 1970s style with longer fringe and loose waves.

Short sassy hairstyles at the BAFTAs 2015

One of the most sophisticated looks of the evening was achieved by Kristen Scott Thomas who wore a vintage black Balmain dress which was accessorised with giant diamond earrings.  Her hair is very short and she manages to give it some va-va-voom with volume on top.

Patricia Arquette won best supporting actress winner for Boyhood.  We love her daring quaffed hairstyle and this lovely plum red dress.  Her 1970s-inspired hairstyle with a longer fringe and slight messy waves was bang on trend for 2015.

Rosamund Pike opted for a simple but elegant black halter-neck Roland Mouret dress and added some gentle curls to her short blonde bob.

On-trend hairstyles at the BAFTAs

British actress Gugu Mbatha-Raw was on-trend with her pastel hued lavender Prada gown with black trim and matching black bag.  We love the simplicity at the top of this gown which works beautifully with the flowing lower half with train.  Her hair is scraped back for a classic and elegant look.

Vintage glamour was the name of the game for Lea Seydoux who wore a yellow pleated Prada gown with cut-out sections giving it a modern twist.  Her vintage hairstyle, dark eyes and bright red lips perfectly matched this retro look.

Best actress nominee Amy Adams looked sophisticated in a white belted gown from Lanvin.  She finished off the look with shiny straight hair and a low side parting.

Men’s hair and fashion at the 2015 BAFTAs

It seems that David Beckham can do no wrong when it comes to hair and fashion these days!  His quiffed hair looked stylish and slick, while his tuxedo looked well cut, expensive and extremely suave.

We love that Douglas Booth added his own sense of style to the occasion with a vintage-inspired pale blue velvet dinner jacket.  We really like his cool bearded look and haircut but we reckon it needed a bit more styling to give him an edge.

Man of the hour Eddie Redmayne was thrilled to take the best actor for his portrayal of Stephen Hawking in The Theory of Everything.  He also won in the men’s style stakes with his blue velvet Tom Ford tuxedo jacket with black lapels.
