Brit actor Eddie Redmayne picked up the best actor Oscar for his portrayal of  Stephen Hawking in The Theory of Everything, Julianne Moore won best actress for her leading role in Still Alice, and Patricia Arquette picked up best supporting actress, using her acceptance speech as an opportunity to call for wage equality for females in the industry.

While the celebrities partied the night away, we were busy looking at their hair and fashion sense so we can tell you who stole the show when it came to fashion on the red carpet!

Best dressed celebrities at the Oscars 2015

We’d expect nothing less from Lady Gaga who wore a white Alaïa dress which she paired with a pair of red shiny gloves and a matching red hair accessory!

But the winner of the night when it came to oozing style was Rita Ora in a beautiful midnight blue Marchesa dress and a new hairstyle – simple slicked back blonde hair.  This dress had the wow factor – an amazing silhouette, stunning fishtail and gold embellishment.

Benedict Cumberbatch is also turning into something of a fashionista and he delighted again in this striking white tuxedo.

Elegant hairstyles & neutral gowns at the Oscars

Elegant hairstyles were teamed with neutral colours for several of the actresses.  Oscar winner Julianne Moore wore a custom Chanel haute couture dress made by Karl Lagerfeld himself! The organza gown featured 80,000 small white hand-painted resin sequins and flowers made of ivory, beige and black organza, tulle and sequins.

Kerry Washington looked beautiful in a peplum Miu Miu gown with an embroidered top, and Anna Faris got it spot on with her pretty dress and hair.

Nicole Kidman looked elegant in her shimmering nude dress but we’re unsure about the red belted accessory.  Less is more, as they say!

Top marks to Rosamond Pike who looked sensational in a red Givenchy lace gown which she teamed with elegant hair scraped back into a bun.
